Urban Outdoorsy displayed on a laptop and phone — “New content is live.” launch mockup with the urbanoutdoorsy.com URL

I’ve owned urbanoutdoorsy.com for many years with the intent of doing something with it. It was inspired by a conversation with a friend from Toronto.

If you like outdoor things and live in a large metro area, how do you pick things to do? Sure there are a lot of web resources, and AI will confidently give you the “best” suggestions. I thought: what if friends and neighbors could share their trips?

You could do it on lots of services. I had thought maybe a topic-focused forum site would be useful, but I also had a feeling it wouldn’t go very far. So I didn’t put it together, for various reasons related to effort versus engagement.

Well, now I’m doing the simplest thing just to start putting up some content. I have notes on a lot of trips over many years, but I picked a few to get started. I figure I’ll need to get better at writing it, so I may as well start doing it.

Check it out at urbanoutdoorsy.com.
